Patience on the Recovery is a program hosted by Harlem River Community Rowing that is designed to get cancer survivors involved in the sport of rowing. Harlem River Community Rowing (HRCR) operates out of Muscota Marsh in Inwood and is the only rowing organization in New York City that provides comprehensive rowing opportunities for adults. Rowing is a team sport that builds strength, endurance, and camaraderie.
Patience on the Recovery (PotR) is working with the Survivor Rowing Network, a global organization that seeks to help cancer survivors make rowing a part of their healing journey. As they explain in their mission statement: “consistent physical activity is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of cancer recurrence, improve long-term outcomes, and enhance quality of life.” HRCR is excited to be a part of this community and eager to welcome survivors to participate in our PotR programming.
