Masters Rowing

Recreational and Competitive Rowing for Experienced Rowers

Coached masters rowing sessions are targeted toward those with previous rowing experience. Sessions are split into Skills Building, for those returning to rowing after a hiatus, wanting to refresh their technique, or looking for a more relaxed row, and Advanced Skills, for those rowers wanting a more challenging workout. HRCR also competes in various regattas along the East Coast during the summer and fall racing seasons. HRCR currently has an Empacher 8+, a Kaschper 4x, two Wintech 2x, and a Maas 1x onsite.

Sessions take place consistently on weekend mornings from mid-April to mid-November and on weekdays mornings and evenings when availability allows. All sessions launch from our shared dock at Muscota Marsh in Inwood (northern Manhattan), and all adults 18+ who meet the requirements listed below are eligible to participate. Please note that Row New York offers extensive programming for minors. They are located close by at the Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse in Inwood.

If you are interested in masters rowing, including coxing opportunities, please read our 2025 HRCR Handbook or contact us at info@harlemrivercr.org. Interested coaches are also encouraged to visit our Coaching Opportunities page and contact HRCR Programming Coordinator Pieter Lindenbergh at pieter.lindenbergh@harlemrivercr.org.

Requirements:

HRCR is volunteer-driven and the only adult rowing program in New York City. To make our programs as accessible as possible, all HRCR programming is free of cost to participants. On average, participation in one session costs HRCR about $15 (equipment, insurance, coaching), and we rely on donations to cover these expenses. If you are able, please consider donating here
