Rowing for All
Row With Us
Harlem River Community Rowing is a 15-year-old volunteer-driven organization offering free rowing on the Harlem River for all New Yorkers. We’re proud to be expanding and enhancing access to the Harlem River for on-water physical fitness and recreation. In particular, we serve the communities of Northern Manhattan, but all rowers and would-be rowers are welcome.
OUR 2022 PROGRAM
In 2022, we returned to our Inwood/Washington Heights location, rowing from the newly rebuilt dock in Muscota Marsh Park.
We offer weekend rows—two each on Saturdays and Sundays. There will be a novice/return-to-rowing session and a masters recreational session both days.
We offer a Learn To Row program for people who have no prior experience. Learn To Row is a multi-session course designed to give participants a solid grounding in safe technique, boat handling, and rowing terminology so that they can confidently participate in novice sessions.
Our 2022 season will wrap up the first week in November.
If you haven’t already signed up to be notified about program updates, now’s the time!

FREE “Fit to Row” Exercise Series Online
On September 12, 2020, to mark the annual City of Water Day, Harlem River Community Rowing was proud to launch our first Fit to Row exercise video as an In Your Neighborhood event sponsored by the Waterfront Alliance and its partners. The 30-minute video features exercises that support and build the muscle groups needed for rowing, and also promotes overall fitness and flexibility. It's available here and also on our YouTube channel.
We thank the Hudson River Foundation, the New York–New Jersey Harbor & Estuary Program, and the Waterfront Alliance for supporting our first Fit to Row event.
